Well, emotions are running high here in the Rowland home. Our sweetheart, Kaitlin was set apart as a full-time missionary last night... it was the first time Emily seemed to more fully grasp that she was leaving soon. As the Stake President concluded the blessing, Emily was huddled in the corner crying her eyes out. And then the tears really started for everyone else as well. It was a tearful/happy event that we'll always remember.
Later that night, now that Kaitlin needed a 'companion' to be with her at all times, it was decide that the girls would all sleep with Mom :). Everyone felt a need to stay so close to Kaitlin and spend every moment with her, knowing, I'm sure, how much they would be missing her for the next 18 months. It seemed that little Emily wasn't able to find much comfort... she fell asleep sobbing, and woke up sobbing :(. Such a tender heart.
This morning we went out to eat breakfast as a family, at IHOP. Enjoyed by all... until JC coughed his breakfast all over the table :). .... "Don't eat that!" Ha ha!
We then drove to the MTC and took pictures and played tag until the time came to drop her off at the curb. It was soooo hard to say goodbye, but we know she is in Good Hands, and will be so blessed and be such a blessing to those she meets in Florida!
The drive home was really quiet. Everyone was still reeling from the difficult good-bye. The once rambunctious kids were subdued, and the falling snow seemed to add to the melancholy mood. I know Kaitlin was anxious to get the good-bye's over with, and get on with things. Once she makes a decision she wants to carry it out. Waiting to get started was probably the hardest part for her.
We love you, Kaitlin!
More to come......
